World Sports Betting Western Province Men have wrapped up preparations ahead of the much anticipated 2024/25 season opener this weekend in Cape Town.

The Boys In Blue will be looking to rectify last season's mistakes in the CSA T20 Challenge when they face up against rival neighbours Goldrush Boland on Sunday at World Sports Betting Newlands Cricket Ground.

The match is set to start at 2pm and it will be live on SuperSport TV.

Having done well last season, the newly appointed T20 captain Beuran Hendricks knows the importance of starting the season on a high.

"The squad is looking good, our guys have really put effort into their skills and there’s a hunger to get onto the park after a long pre-season. With only seven rounds we know how important it is to start well in the competition," said Hendricks.

"It’s in our hands to make sure we start well from the first ball bowled on Sunday.

"Our fans can expect a high standard of T20 cricket. We didn’t have a great outing last season so we want to start off the season on a good note and at a higher intensity."

Hendricks admits the Paarl based side will put in a good fight on Sunday but has vowed that Salieg Nackerdien's charges will leave no stone unturned on Sunday.

"We expect a good fight from Boland. They have a really good squad and with some new recruits they’ve added to their squad we know it’s not going to be a walk in the park. We’ll be making sure we leave no stone unturned."

The 34-year-old has called on Western Province supporters to come in numbers on Sunday.

"I really want to see the Newlands Faithful come out in numbers and support the boys. We want to entertain everyone that comes out and I think they would enjoy the brand of cricket we’ve put on display. It’s going to be a lekka summer of cricket."

Tickets are still available, you can head to the cricket.co.za website to grab yours.

Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) would like to share an important update with our loyal fans, planning to visit World Sports Betting Newlands on Sunday.

Ready to commence the season, welcoming all fans, families, and sporting-fans alike WPCA wish to inform all ticket-buyers that the stadium is currently undergoing important construction and renovation work which will result in an even bigger and better in-stadium experience.

This work will continue throughout the T20 Challenge with all developments set to enhance the stadium significantly.

Due to the construction and taking our fans' safety into consideration, the North Stand and the grass embankment in front of the Snakepit building will be out of bounds during the T20 season. Fans who have bought tickets in either of these areas, will be redirected to use the open side in the President Pavilion and Railway stands.

Fans are still encouraged to come out in their numbers to enjoy the match on the Oaks grass embankment, as it will remain open to the public. Furthermore, the T20 Challenge offers several enticing competitions such as the R1-million One-Handed Catch, R1-million in tuition fees repayment for students and other unforgettable in-stadium activations, fans are in for a treat at every match!

WPCA CEO Corrie van Zyl commented: “The World Sports Betting Newlands Cricket Ground is one of the most iconic cricket stadiums in the world and we want to enhance the experience at our stadium. We regret the short-term inconvenience caused by the construction but the work forms part of realising our strategic objectives of making WSB Newlands a multi-purpose facility that can host world class events, as well as ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the organisation. We trust that you will enjoy the tournament, and we count on your loyal support during this campaign.”
