Vodacom Bulls Director of Rugby Jake White, his loose forward Cameron Hanekom and lock JF van Heerden as well as Bulls Daisies trio; Libbie Janse van Rensburg, Chumisa Qawe and Vainah Ubisi are all among the shortlisted nominees for the 2024 SA Rugby Awards.
White has been shortlisted in the Coach of the Year Award category after a stellar season with the herd, where he guided his Chargers to the Grand Final of the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, the quarter-finals of the Investec Champions Cup whilst they also made the knockouts of the Carling Currie Cup under the guide of Phiwe Nomlomo who was under the stewardship of White.
Two of White's mentees, Hanekom and Junior Springbok Van Heerden, have been shortlisted for the SA Rugby Young Player of the Year award.
Back-to-back Women's Premier League Champions, the Bulls Daisies have a trio of nominees at this year's awards with Van Rensburg, Qawe and Ubisi all shortlisted for the SA Rugby Women’s Player of the Year award alongside Aseza Hele and Nadine Roos. The five players have all played key roles in helping the Springbok Women win the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup and qualify for the Rugby World Cup 2025 in England.
BBCo Chief Executive, Edgar Rathbone congratulated all the nominees saying their stellar work during the season is being recognised, deservingly so.
