The Momentum Multiply Titans are ready for one final battle as they take on arch-rivals, the DP World Lions in the CSA Four-Day Series final from Thursday to Monday at the DP World Wanderers Stadium.
Despite a rain-hit weekend at SuperSport Park in Centurion, the Titans showed immense grit and determination to punch their ticket to the final. In a weather-affected match against Boland, the Sky Blues made the most of limited play, bowling the visitors out for 252 in 84.1 overs.
On debut, Janco Smit made an impressive entrance to first-class cricket, bagging 3/54, while medium-fast bowler Dayyaan Galiem added to the pressure with a tidy 3/77. Their collective effort ensured the Titans stayed in control during a tough match defined by rain delays.
Now, it’s time for the Titans to take on their arch-rivals in the always-fiery Jukskei Derby, with a championship on the line.
“It’s always a great battle when we take on the Lions,” said head coach Richard das Neves. “They’re the defending champions for a reason but we believe in our squad and the depth we’ve shown throughout the season. The guys are focused, determined and ready for this challenge.”
The Titans’ batting unit showed explosive form in recent fixtures. Rivaldo Moonsamy led the charge with a brilliant 117 off 125 balls (11x4, 3x6), Dewald Brevis followed up with a devastating 80 off just 57 balls (9x4, 3x6) and captain Neil Brand anchored the innings with a fluent 61 (run-a-ball), showcasing the squad’s firepower heading into the final.
Speaking ahead of the decider, Brand reflected on the journey: “It’s been an up-and-down season but we’ve stuck together and kept fighting. We’ve consistently reached semi-finals and finals over the past few years and now it’s just a matter of getting over the line. The boys are hungry and we’re excited to step out at the Wanderers and give it everything.”
With five days of top-class red-ball cricket ahead, the Titans are ready to bring the fight to Johannesburg.
The team is buzzing with energy and focus as they prepare to lock horns with their biggest rivals. It’s all to play for at the DP World Wanderers - five days, one trophy and the Sky Blues are ready.
