Western Province Head Coach Salieg Nackerdien has reiterated that this is no time to take the foot off the pedal when they welcome the Hollywoodbets Dolphins.
The CSA 4-Day Series must win clash is set to start at 10am on Wednesday at Newlands Cricket Ground.
Having won on the road last week, Nackerdien’s charges are set to set their focus to home ground advantage against the log leaders.
Nackerdien has walked down memory lane on how the team has faired during the campaign.
"We’ve gone nicely during the 4-Day campaign. A few results that didn’t go our way away from home wasn’t ideal. But our record at home speaks for itself and with the win against (Dafabet) Warriors last week, it gives us some momentum going into this week.
“Our biggest challenge this season has been a number of players moving into the national ranks. In saying that it gave some of the younger players an opportunity to showcase their skills with most of them contributing to the chance of us playing in the final.”
With it being a must win encounter, Nackerdien knows how important it is for his team to get over the line.
“The guys have put in the hard yards during the course of the season and it shows with us already having claimed the One-Day Cup trophy and the ball is now in our court to be able to challenge for the 4-Day Series trophy.
“The next four days will be a challenge for all of us involved, characters will be tested and play a big role going into this game. The nice thing to see is that both departments have put in top performances during the course of our campaign and this week is another opportunity to play some good cricket.
“I see this game as a semi-final and is a must win in the context of the competition. The squad that assembles this week will be backed and we have the trust in them to take us over the line. Its another opportunity to get into a final.”
