South Africa can't improve ranking

World Rugby has published the ranking permutations for the opening round of the Rugby Africa Women's Cup 2024 this weekend.

  • Defending champions South Africa cannot improve their rating with victory over Cameroon in the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup 2024 opener due to the 23.63 points difference between the teams.

  • However, South Africa will drop below Spain to 13th if they fail to win.

  • Cameroon could climb by as many as four places to 27th if they win by more than 15 points and Madagascar are also beaten by Kenya.

  • They are guaranteed a two-place gain if they upset the Springbok Women.

  • Kenya will move above China to a new high of 22nd if they beat Madagascar.

  • Madagascar will drop below Colombia into 28th if defeated on home soil.

  • Madagascar will move above Belgium and into 26th place if they win with Kenya slipping below Portugal if they lose by more than 15 points.
