Sunday's opening match of the One-Day Cup saw the Durban faithful turn out in their numbers at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium to cheer on the Hollywoodbets Dolphins against the Dafabet Warriors.

The cricket fever has not subsided in Durban following the successful International and SA20 matches, this momentum has run into the 50 over competition as families enjoyed the fantastic weather at the stadium.

With so much on offer for fans throughout the day, there was plenty to do and enjoy while the players fought it out on the field. While the Dolphins defeat was not the result that the crowd wanted, there are more home games in the group stage of the tournament for the Dolphins where fans will enjoy more opportunities to catch their heroes.

"We were very encouraged by the turn out that we had at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on Sunday," CEO of KZN Cricket Heinrich Strydom said. "There is clearly an appetite for live cricket and to see the number of children at the ground was exciting.

"The Stadium has tried to price tickets in a way that gives people value for money and Sunday's turnout was a testament to that."

KZN Cricket has launched their Family Pack for the One-Day Cup. This offer includes four tickets for R40 and is part of their vision to spread the love of the game.

Despite the result there was a festive, upbeat energy and atmosphere around the ground on Sunday. With two more home matches in the competition, KZN Cricket are hopeful that the fans can continue to come and support.

"We have got a mid-weekday and night match coming up and cricket under lights is always an exciting prospect for fans. We encourage supporters to keep an eye on our social media accounts about ticket specials for the two matches.

"The final group stage home game will be another day and night match on Friday, 7 March which will be an exciting way to start the weekend," Strydom added.

The Dolphins are on the road this week and face Goldrush Boland in their second match of the One-Day Cup on Wednesday at Boland Park in Paarl.
